Montbauron swimming complex

As of June 2006, the City of Versailles now boasts a brand-new, state-of-the-art swimming complex and spa. The center features an Olympic-sized pool that is divisible into two 25-meter pools, as well as a children’s pool and a recreational pool complete with water jets and fountains. The fitness center and spa offer an array of cardio-training equipment, plus two saunas and a steam room.

The ultramodern facility replaces the original structure, which opened its doors in 1951. Considered ahead of its time even then, the former Piscine Montbauron featured innovative lighting and pool filtering and ventilation systems. Entirely updated with high-tech safety and maintenance features, the new facility is enclosed in a futuristic glass-and-steel structure designed by architect Jacques Rougerie.
